The point of this thread was to integrate your usernames into the chat so they don't have to enter their details. There are a lot of options for people who just want to insert a chat area without doing this.
The Twitter Module for Pligg CMS! Register, Login, and Submit Stories with Twitter. An absolute MUST HAVE for all Pligg sites! |

I've read this thread several times, but it doesn't server the purpose I desire. For each post or story, i'd like to have a separate chat room with a link at the bottom of each story. The link would let you open up that specific chat room for that story. Ideally, the link would show how many users where chatting about the story at that time. It should not require any new registration and use your Pligg username. Thoughts? |

alright, since this is my first post, i'll try to make it as useful as possible. ive came accross MANY MANY different things for what this thread is asking of. a couple of things not already listed: PJIRC (they have phpbb2 integration, but you need to have premade IRC channel, a great example of standalone is located here.) incircles.com - offering a shoutbox type FLASH based chatroom. needs no integration whatsoever, just create a shoutbox.tpl, embed the code, and echo it. plugoo.com - not exactly a SHOUTBOX, but it offers a way to get ahold of the admin (kinda like meebo?) im kinda stuck right now (awake a little too long), i'll post more if i find them ![]() now, as for the creating a separate room for each story, that seems like it could be possible in perhaps perl scripting or maybe some wicked mysql scripting, but im not sure if theres an already available source for that. im not even sure how to google this =\ Last edited by phrostwave; 03-18-2007 at 09:46 PM. |

here's an idea replace the comments system with a simple ajax chat. each comment record has a story id so it'd would be quite easy to find all the chats using the entered id/title user's can chat using this chat system and if they go to another page and come back you can still see the whole conversation. feel free to expand on this, i won't sue (too early to joke about it?) |
