I searched around in the threads but couldn't seem to find anyhting that talks about this. My apologies if it has been addressed.

Is there any way to modify the submission process? The first step by default asks tfor a URL. My particular site (www.blackbus.org/ideas) will be using Pligg to track ideas for updates to some software. In that context I don't need a URL.

Any thoughts on changing that process would be appreciated

You can disable entering URLs by going to admin config > submit and changing "require a URL" to false. If you want to bypass the entire screen altogether then also change "show the URL input box" to false

After I do that it works great, but it jumps right to "Stepo 2 of 3". As a suggestion, the steps should be renumbered if I get rid of the show URL box...

You can change that in admin > modify language. Just search for "Submit a new story, step 2 of 3" (w/out quotes) and click the filter tab. You can then edit it to whatever you want it to say.

OK... now what about changing the fields on screen 2 of 3?

Can we add text boxes, remove text boxes, add other types of input controls?

You can, go here admin config > ExtraFields, set 'Enable extra fields' to true.

You have to install/create mods (or modify 'submit_extra_fields.tpl') to show/choose/use the fields you wants to...

don't forget that if you enable extra fields you need to go to libs/extrafields.php and set the ones you want to use to true. The file that banglasavvy mentioned is the file you go to to format the extra fields. I think you can change all the titles for them in admin > modify language
