Send Announcement v0.2
Credit goes to Vinoth for creaing it and Kbeeveer46 for making a module of it; am posting on behalf of them. Original thread having detailed discussion located in General help is at http://www.pligg.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4337

Changes:
1] New version of Send Announcement to use $db global - so no more opening and editing files for DB values.

2] Also the empty subject and message were displaying a {#Pligg_...#} messages- fo now we have hard-coded to use English text strings.

New version available from http://www.pligg.com/forum/attachmen...1&d=1172063361

Note to Kbeeveer46 - please review it and integrate with trunk version in the SVN.

hi

this module is only to be used by the admin right?

Currently there is no method checking the user level of the current user.

Quote:
force_authentication();
$canIhaveAccess = 0;
$canIhaveAccess = $canIhaveAccess + checklevel('god');
you can add this at the top of sendannouncement_showpage()

if $canihaveaccess != 1 then the user is not god, so display a sendannouncement_error.tpl

Can you put html into the "message" field, so that the e-mail that gets sent will have your site logo, background, styles etc??

Hi dollars,

Did you have to edit anything to get it to send html. I have just tried and I just get the the source and not the images. This is what the received email looks like:

hi linka

Most email software now has images off by default. Google and Yahoo and both prime examples. So even if you do get it to send out the image, it's the email client on the other end that will still cause headaches. I would recommend sticking to text only.
