First of all I just want to say that I think what Yankidank and Ash are doing here is awesome, they deserve our gratitude!
Today I've been looking at the pligg clone sites, working with thejdawg on our sites and talking with Yankidank about some ideas. He mentioned I should post it here for feedback to see what you guys think.
Basically the first idea I had was, since a lot of us really enjoy the pligg site format, it'd be really cool if we had a page where people could submit and display thier pligg clone sites with some details about it for others to view, kind of a pligg community gallery. It would be a good way for us to get our respective sites some exposure and create a network of and for pligg enthusiasts. It could be a page we would refer people to, where they could find our sites.
Also, thanks to this forum, thejdawg and I joined each others sites, not knowing the other was doing it at first, and have been reading, submitting (he has) and voting for eachothers content. I just think the best way for us to grow is if we support eachother. If someone here has a site which you like, it'd be great to help out by taking 5 minutes, running through the articles to see if there's something there that you like and voting for it. No one HAS to do this, it's just a nice, helpful thing to do.
Now to second idea. I was also thinking that in order to make it really easy for people to navigate between the sites, so we can get some real ease of use and traffic flow, we could make it so if someone was to register for the gallery and log in, they are registered and logged in for all the participating sites. I think that would make it a lot easier for people and encourage them to come back, because they wouldn't have to worry about registering on every site and signing in on each of them. Yankidank mentioned that it is possible, as Geeklog currently supports a similar idea.
I'd love to hear your feedback, if you think it's sucks or it's a great idea, just let me know and why!
