might be obvious: how to show videos/images on front page versus just post?

okay, this is probably way old, but i can NOT find it in the forums! on many pligg sites, the embedded youtube video (or picture) will display on the actual page (published home page, etc) as well as within the post...mine currently only display on the post page when a user clicks through...how can that be changed? do i have to leave the text summary field blank or something? raise to a million?

also, for home page only (or other pages) is there a simple way to edit the dimensions for an allowed "IMG" tag such that it never exceeds 600 x 400 or something (large ones destroy pligg sites! i don't want users to even have to understand "width= etc, just img src= and then it auto-resizes...

sounds like tinymce would solve a bunch of this...

The default character limit for front page (and other pages except story.php) is 150 by default. So if you are putting the video or picture code after the limit then it will be cut off and only viewable on the story page. You can change this limit in admin > config > summary I think.

it appears that on some sites, the video will appear (and in many cases, as a 'small version' with the same text limits on full post (they're truncated)...seems like somebody's adding a div to the css and then modifying the front page summaries...just not sure what they're doing - may have to just find one of hte sites that's doing it to see about css, but still not sure about the page template...

I do it this way, maybe not very elegant but it works;

copy the embed code from the site you are getting the Video from, to show it on the main page paste it onto the description section, use the correct tags.

To show it on the front page tick the box that says "enter my own summary" simply copy and paste the embed code and the tags into the summary box, and that should put the Video onto the front page. Works for me.
