    Pligg 9 beta upgrade

    Hi,

I have Pligg 9 beta and would love to upgrade to 9.5 (some updates there I'd like to have). Is there a straight upgrade path from 9 beta to 9.5?

    I think the process is:
    - backup current install
    - put up a holding page to let users know update in progress
    - backup current database
    - upload new version
    - run install.php and select upgrade
    - remove holding page

    hopefully, that should be it...
Is this process correct and has anyone done it yet (can't afford too much downtime so very afraid of any problems..)

    after select upgrade.

    - check permissions are correctly set
    - empty templates_c folder, cache folder
    - test website.
    - Fix any template issues (9.5 template is different compared to 9.0)
    - Get a few beta testers to comb the site for bugs
    - remove holding page and grab a beer.

the templates are compiled in php files and put into templates_c

once you upgrade, the old files should be deleted so that the old ones don't run.

Usually a problem when moving hosts, but delete the files just to be safe.

Those folders are used for temporary caching, they should be cleared so that all of the information on the page is refreshed and new cached files are added to them. Otherwise the page might not display the latest code.

This will upgrade the database for Pligg Beta v9.0 and above to the latest version.

Note: this is just a database upgrade, you still need to upload the new files.

Why don't you wait for Pligg 1.0 which is releasing this month. (Just suggestion)
