Forum Mod for Story Comments?

Is there any mod/bridge to modify a Pligg site to use a forum system (such as phpbb/vB/SMF) for the comments on stories on a Pligg site? Or, is there any mod or [near]-future Pligg release that will greatly enhance the commenting section in Pligg itself?

I think there is a phpbb integration module in the download section, I haven't used it, but I think it just integrates the user databases into one.
