    php 5+

I definitely recommend for all to upgrade their php to the latest version such as php 5+. I saw the improvement of speed for pligg when using php 5+. I mean tremendously speed up pligg. When upgrade to php 5+, it's recommend to upgrade your apache to 2+ also.

If possible, compile php with the zend-multibyte option. This save you international character problems :-)

I don't think that choice is up to many of us - our hosting companies usually make this decision.

Tell them that BOM characters (Byte-order mark - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) are really ugly on browsers. Maybe that helps ;-)

xcache will get you more performance than either php5 or apache2 (tho i do recommend both) also keep an eye on the current svn pligg's, serious performance patches coming

Guys, there is an other active discussion on PHP 5+ support at http://forums.pligg.com/off-topic/74...php5-only.html - we would really appreciate your feedback there too.

    Thanks for your participation.
