9.7 - RSS importer does not work
Hallo,
I've installed pligg 9.7 beta, and activated some modules already in default package, in particular RSS Importer v0.3 (desc: Import RSS Feed) but, after set it up correctly (xml url, and id of category where to display and id of the user who "publish" the news), no any news is displayed
Is it a bug?
Thanks for help

Hello, I am a new user.
I was having some of the same problems with the RSS Importer in Pligg 9.7.

I'm not sure if it is the same with Pligg 9.7 on the RSS Importer, but after you installed the module on 9.1 you had to setup a job to run in Crontab (if using Linux) on your server. The file to be setup to run was "rss/import_feeds.php". Mine is currently setup to run once an hour.

After looking through the code of 9.7 and realizing that my rss feeds were no longer importing after the upgrade from 9.1 to 9.7, I'm not sure how feed imports should be setup in 9.7. My rss importer running in crontab (rss/import_feeds.php) seems to be running the old version of the importer, not the module. It says all titles are duplicates and does not implement the random voting feature.

I finally got my rss importer to run. The importer has moved from earlier versions to a module (modules/rss_import/). In the new module directory for the importer there is a file import.php. Copy that file to your pligg home directory. After you copy it there, setup a cronjob to run (mine runs hourly) that executes that import.php script.

Help with cron
Can you tell me what code you used for your cron job?
was it in simple or advance unix mode?

New Pligger
can anyone offer the rss format for pligg 9.7
it seems i cannot get the linbk, link url and content to appear in the right places.
I have changed and tried several different configurations, all to no avail.
In some cases, i get the title only and no content etc.
rss (xml formatted) feeds follow a standard format do they not?
does anyone know what the standard is?
example:
link_url
link_title
link_content
link_description
thx
does anyone have any ideas.
