Here is my tags.php for german characters with some search optimization (rev 1200, SourceForge.net Repository - [pligg] Revision 1200 )

I forgot to mention: The result will be uncapitalized and transcribed words, e.g. Lößnitz --> loessnitz

Thanks again.
Sorry, nothing changed.
I replaced the old libs/tags.php with your tags.php but everything is still the same.
I made a few test submissions even with lößnitz but no luck. In tag cloud ö is still ö and
ß is still ß. And when I clik the tag search doesnt give me any results and in the
browser's URL-field the tag is spelled l%C3%B6%C3%9Fnitz.

I have switched my whole installation to ISO-8859-1 and I use URL method 1 without make friendly. If you can live with that settings give them a try.

Ok, thanks that did it.
Need to think if I want to go through this change or just have some broken tags.

Could be that it works just with a switch to URL 1, haven´t tested it :-)

I don't know about the URL-method, but it seems that this tag.php-fix works only with ISO-8859-1 not with UTF-8.
Anyway I swithced back to UTF-8 because I think having tags with ae, ue, oe etc. is too complicated.

I noticed that when clikcin tag lößnitz I get no results but if I change the Url from
search.php?search=l%C3%B6%C3%9Fnitz&tag=true
to
search.php?search=l%C3%B6%C3%9Fnitz
I get results.

Can you Tbones or someone explain why the latter URL works?

I´m not a search algorithm expert, sorry.

I waiting myself for a broader search function: http://forums.pligg.com/general-help...-comments.html

Ok. Thanks.

Just wondering why search doesn't understand special characters when doing tag search but in
normal search it does find the tags.

Any updates on this matter?

How to make tag search work when the tag has international characters?
