I have some Characters appearing in the Link Summary View. In the Link Overviews it is ok, but if I click on a Title and view the full link overview, above the vote Number and left beside the "This is your first time viewing this story." (also if I disable the last view times in Backend) appears this string "". See atached image.

I dont know why this is shown up, it is on a default and fresh pligg 9.5 beta installation. I looked in the pligg.tpl and the link_summary.tpl but didnt find something which could be in relationship with this string.

Can sombody please help me to eleminate this 3 Characters. I downloadet pligg 9.5 and reinstalled it 4 times now, but the string is always there. I cannot figure out where is the problem.

Best Regards

I think this is a hosting issue and possibly an encoding issue.

The problem is in the top on story_center.tpl.

Thanks for your replies.

@ash
I see the string in the story_center.tpl when I open the file in the webbrowser. I looked in the same file on my local installation files, there everithing is ok and the is not in the file. So I uploadet this file again but if I open the file in the browser the Chars show up again. So on the site the chars are still there. This is crazy.

Save the story_center.tpl (you linked in pm) with your webbrowser and open it local and you will see the file is correct.

Any ideas what causes this misterious phenomenon? How to fix this if it is an encoding issue?

Best Regards

The last person that had this problem found out that the host was doing something to the files when they were sent from the server. It was most likely an encoding thing. I'm not sure how much we can help you, though.

OK. Thanks. It works now.

I emailed my hoster for this problem. They said it was proberbly a problem while uploading the file. But I had upload the file a few times. And when I saved the file from my webspace on my local pc i couldnt see the chars. But it works now so its fine.

Cheers

Its definitely the encoding you set on the file. I would get a more sophisticated text editor than wordpad, notepad, and change the encoding to what the other files have. If possible change the coding while its on the server. Instead of before you upload it. If you need more help just ask because I fixed the problem on a site just a minute ago. After thinking about it being an encoding issue in the text file.
