We have built this solution with Simply Fired | If You Don't Laugh, You'll Cry / Popular Stories

It combines Vbulliten, MovableType, and Pligg. Its not hard per-say, just a lot of man hours to complete. There is a ton of mess in VBulliten (like insane amounts) and pligg is less then clean when it comes to its code base. The total project took us around 3 months but Im sure we could do it a bit faster now.

Give me a few days to clean up the requirements and get the screenshots together. What I think this is really coming down to is:

-Single sign-on between the two applicaitons
-Automatic account creation (i.e. create a Pligg profile and a WP blog) in both applicaitons when creating a user
-A clean method/flow to go back and forth between the two applications
-Merged Profiles of some sort (I have a work around in mind for this).
-A method to automatically add blogs to the pligg news section of the site

Let me know if there are any use cases I am missing.

Fuji and Company - I am thinking that if we can all put in @$100 we shoul dbe able to get a pretty serious person to do this for us. Let me know if this is something everyone is willing to do.

Also - my I have been unable to get the MU version of Word Press installed - does anyone have this up and running so I can take a look? Thanks.

I installed it but have many questions.

I found some devs that would do it, for less than 1000 but if we all split it, the hit will be less on each of us.

I'm back now, so I'll compile the devs I had been in contact with and we can decide which path to follow

I am also a non technical person interested in this project who can contribute financially to make it happen. So, when you start the collection process, please dont forget me.

I do have a question or two though that maybe you guys could address.

1) Would the functionality you are talking about actually create a new instance of WP for every new person registers to be a member at the respective pligg site?

2) How much freedom to customize the wordpress sites would members have? Would it be like what is on offer at wordpress.com vs installing the full WP version from wordpress.org on your own server?

Thats about it for now.
