Problems Upgrading Beta 8 To 9.8

Ok - I suppose I should ask if it's possible, I've looked around and I'm not sure.

I followed the upgrade guide, changed all the permissions, installed files, changed names and so on.

Upon running the upgrade I received the following string of error messages:



This will upgrade the database for Pligg Beta v9.0 and above to the latest version.

Note: this is just a database upgrade, you still need to upload the new files.

Ok - I hope this isn't considered a bump...

I realised that the upgrade was only for 9.0 and up, so I went to get the upgrade that would take it to 9.0 - which then proceeded to fail.

The first error I got was:

Naturally, I thought the smart thing to do would be to copy config2.php and have one called that and the other as settings.php - which lead to:

Which is a lot more benign than the previous beast... but still frustrating.

I checked the smarty.php and that gave me...

Let's see, I'm running 8.6 at the moment, FTF10, paul01... any ideas what's wrong?
