Instructions for Language translators and translated lang.conf files

Hi,

I dunno whether a similar thread exists (in search I didn't find one) - but thought to go ahead to create one.

If you plan to translate Pligg lang.conf file to other languages, please make sure you translate the following files, pack them in the same folder structure and attach to this thread - this will make the work a lot easier.

If you plan to start with - use the enclosed package for English that will help you get started:

Many of our users are kind enough to make Pligg a true CMS with multi-language support - Presented below are some translations. Dont just download the files and forget, please do rate the users that will motivate them to contribute more. Use the rate download in the downloads section. Thanks ya guys for helping Pligg.

I just thought of unethical ways to do the Pligg translation: this is what we did for Portuguese translation(the client is OK with sharing the translations - good guys do exist) (will share it sooner - as some parts are pending)

1] Use Google translator:
http://translate.google.com/translate_t to translate from English to desired language

2] Ask others to share
If you see translated Pligg on a site, Ask the author/owner to share it - politely

3] If tip #2 doesn't work - Steal the lang.conf from other sites
This is the most un-ethical part. Many site owners use Pligg, translate for their need but never bother to give them back- this is a special treatment for such candidates. Just try the following to get the lang.conf: http://sitename.com/libs/lang.conf - Bingo - you got the translated version (Beware: There is more possibility that the candidate has chosen to customize the lang for their site: example instead of "vote" - they might have "Spike it!" or some-other things - you should consult tip #1 to verify this)

This was fun - I have no idea of what the Portuguese language would sound like - I used tips #1, #2 for majority of the translations and #3 for few words (sorry that I had to steal - as it was only few words)

If many start this like a game - Pligg admins will consider putting them into SVN too - making many people's life much easier - we can propose to have an admin option to just switch languages - think how good it would be to just change th whole language in a flash. It can happen only when many start contributing.

I also suggest people of that particular language to verify these files for any grammatic errors (Google translators are not always good!!!)
