After deleting some of the comments from a story "Admin>>Comment Management" number of comments show the same as before deleting them. Update DB is not working properly...

Same problem. Yesterday i had 7 comments, and after that, comments doesn't update.

Ditto. Comments not updating - they seem to be randomly changing for stories in fact - sometimes showing a number (usually wrong) sometimes it appears there are no comments, when in fact, there are. Any progress on this? Site going live - beta testers are *all* complaining about it.

I think savant is working at it and you should expect a fix shortly.

hmm, I just missed the time mentioned - thanks gary for noting it fixed - usually when a issue is fixed the moderators will mark fixed - but this thread has gone unnoticed. Thanks again for noting it. updating the status of the thread too.

This fix seemed to work for a couple of hours - then it was back to the old random incorrect/not updating. Any clue as to why it would revert? I updated the files. ? It's a pretty significant problem for us right now.

Try putting the attached file into your root pligg folder (the one with index.php) and run it. It should recalculate all the comment counts and they should then stay accurate.

I checked the database tables, and only 33 stories (in pligg_links) show any comments at all. Why is the relationship between the tables not being maintained? Is there a query somewhere that resets the values when a certain action is performend? I assume the problem is the pligg_comments in the pligg_links table, as it is the one showing mostly 0s where there should be nums. Thanks for continuing to help me get this working - |

Another follow up to give you more specific information on the behavior I'm seeing. Comments aren't being counted at all or are not showing the correct number Ran the file you sent, it output "count matches" for each one So here's what I've done and what happens - If I comment on an article as a regular user, my comment gets added to the (incorrect) number being displayed If there previously were no comments, then it correctly displays "1" after I've submitted mine. If I then login as admin and then delete those same comments, the number of comments for that story is updated and displays correctly. Obviously, I cannot do this for each of the 200+ stories we've got on the site. But whatever it is doing, seems to be doing the trick. However...I still need those other articles to show the correct number of votes without me manually going through each one, adding a comment and then deleting it in the admin. Any ideas? Does this info help at all to sort out where the problem lies? Thanks again - |
