I'm running Pligg 9.7.0 with the following specifics:

Configuration

• Enabled Friendly URLs
• Set title to link to story
• Set title to open a new window

The following works fine:

• Save
• Opening link in new window by clicking on the title

The following doesn't work:

• Clicking on "read more"
• Clicking on the link provided in the email when you select "Tell a friend"
• Clicking on title in Top Today and Upcoming News

The error received after the failed operations above:

Oops, what you're looking for isn't here!

Try searching for the story you're looking for.
Go to the homepage to see the most recent stories.
Browse the topics to find the story.

It's always a good idea to post a link to your site when asking for help. From the information you've provided I can only assume you didn't add the code that's created for you in your category manager (bottom) which says if your going to use URL method 2 you will need to add the following code to your .htaccess file..

It creates it depending on the categories you create.

This was absolutely the problem; I've seen that obscure message so much that I should have remembered it. It seems that it would best be placed on the URL method screen under Admin along with the note about "Rename htaccess.default to .htaccess".
