A Pligg site featured in Techcrunch - and as usual TC refuses to mention Pligg

"Dig A Silicon Valley Girl: Exactly As The Name Suggests" - Dig A Silicon Valley Girl: Exactly As The Name Suggests is a Pligg based site featured in TC, but though TC seems to have hinted it is easy digg clone - they havfe not mentioned pligg. Good to see pligg sites listed on popular sites.

Actually, as the person who wrote the post I had no idea it was a Pligg site, and the owners didn't identify it as such (see below). I've mentioned Pligg plenty of times before so if you're going to throw out these conspiracy theories, at least try to get it right! :_lol:

If it is truly Duncan Riley that replied - that is great news - Welcome to the Pligg community. It was not your mistake though to missing to mention a pligg site - but pligg sites are easily identifiable - just hover on the vote link - you should see a javascript saying vote('x,x,x,x,10')

I did not build up any conspiracy over there - it was just that in the past few instances (intel's ideas site and few others that I did not remember or not able to find atp) the sites were covered great - but it was obvious that it was built on Pligg and it was not mentioned. That made me think that TC avoids mentioning Pligg or just missing to do more research on it posts. Again nothing against TC in special.

@Duncan Reily: Isn't publishing information submitted to TC (phone numbers, personal email) in a public forum not a problem? Was that allowed by your terms? I advise to edit to hist such info - temporarily I am hiding sensitive info by editing your post - I also advise you to avoid posting such info in public forums.

(If not Duncan - then it is someone from techcrunch).

there are a couple of Digg style scripts around at the moment (including a hosted service...corank is the name for memory) so no: I didn't know.

Apologies though to Pligg fans, I do regret not mentioning the Pligg relationship, however I now just simply regret writing the post given the ho-ha over the contact details. Moral: if you want your site written about and don't want to disclose contact details: don't come knocking on my door, because you should be proud of your site, not trying to hide from it (unless of course its something exceptional: this site isn't).

For the record, Google search for Pligg on TechCrunch brings up pages and pages

duncanriley - first, I want to give you full credit for reviewing the site and seeing it as what it really is: a 'tongue in cheek' site and nothing more. No hidden agenda.

Regarding our info being published in the forum. As far as we understood it, when we submitted it to TC, it was the understanding that it is for contacting by investors etc but not made public in the forum. We were more surprised then concerned.

To everyone in the Pligg group - I've had PM exchanges between Duncan - he is NOT the enemy here.

(And he was not the only one who did not notice it was a Pligg site - I guess we did a good custom job )

BTW: Dig A Silicon Valley Girl - the site was never meant to be a real company/business. It was meant to be a parody (the messages are hidden on the site - its very easy to find, hence we were surprised no one did ). The whole thing was done (from concept to launch) in 4 days - as a quick break from our real work.
