Hi Folks, would anyone care to take 5 mins to help this n00b out with gzip?

After reading up on gzip etc on this forum, have a few questions:

1) What is better, adding that ob_handler php line to all php files or commenting out the .htaccess gzip lines.

2) If it is better to use the .htaccess method, could somebody please help. I replaced the absolute path with my servers (/home/ant/public_html) but get a 500 server error. Nowhere in my server can I find the php files reffered to on these .htaccess lines.

Is that indicative that gzip is not installed on my server? I have a fairly bog standard Linux server account with cpanel. Would have thought gzip was installed, certainly for other installations such as Drupal, Gallery 2 etc on my server the 'gzip installed?' installation checks returns true.

Where could I get the two php files from?

Many thanks, T.
