First of all I am not a coder. I am better at coming up with concepts. So, this mod is for localizing news. In this fashion news can be found in your city, state, or country by links on the stories and a scale on the side. This could work with a map API too. The info could be spidered off the article automatically or manually inputted on submitting.

Tour: Click on profile, input zip code. Then click on political news. Your zip code's political news will be displayed or a link to add some. A scale of some design allows you to zoom out to county, state, country, world etc which each will show you more news under that category. Links on each story reveal where they come from and further exploring can be done there.

Feel free to brainstorm and adapt. Thank you.

1) turn on the module "users_extra_fields"
2) create the field country/city/zip/address
and/or
3) turn on extra fields and create the field country/city/zip/address
4) when submitting story attach the geo location to the story
5) do something with that info (fetch stories by region, integrate a gmap, whatever)

Like i said here ( http://forums.pligg.com/pligg-mods/8...html#post39012 ) i will release it later. This weekend pligg 0.98 will be launched, so i guesstimate my gmaps module will be launched before pligg 1.0.

When commenting or whatever about the gmap module, please keep it in that forum thread. So this thread won't be hijacked.

I agree with you 100% and have mentioned the exact same thing a number of time. I wish a coder who knew how to do this would make a plugin and charge for it. I would pay for it, no problem. I think Pligg is missing out on a whole new wave of potential users who would be able to use this feature for all sorts of interesting niche markets. What happened? Ever get any feedback from Pligg devs on this one?
