    Do you care?

I started this post as a response to a thread, and realized that it could be addressed to several others asking for critiques of their website. Hopefully it'll provoke some discussion. I'm not trying to be hard on anyone, just providing a sense of reality.

If you're building a Pligg site and want it to do well, there are two questions you should answer:

    1. What is your website about; what problem does it solve?
    2. Are you serious about it? Really?

There are quite a few that seem to have problems with #1. Instead of providing a meaningful service, many are simply trying to copy Digg, which is a recipe for failure. Find a niche.

    Moving on to #2:

Look at your site. Seriously look at it. Are you using the default theme? Poor grammar and spelling? Some of these sites being posted don't even have a logo, or even a title in plain text!

Do you really think that this will succeed?

Finding a free template isn't your problem. The problem is that you don't care. So, neither will your audience.

We are not all here to Solve Promlems Some of us are just clicking ang clacking from one link to the next, learning along the way, burning it up and having a Hellofagood Time!
By the way...I'm not sure if this thread really belongs here. Have a great day my friend!

If you do not want users, traffic, or revenue from your Pligg site, and you're just playing around, that's fine, but then my post obviously doesn't apply to you.

I have seen this a ton on here. People think they can just copy Digg and become instant billionaires. Either that or there are the SEO bottom feeders who also have no new information or research.

As you said, if you want it to be something serious you need to offer the public something that no one else is. If you are doing this as a hobby to learn from than fine. If you want to take it to the next level then you need to use your imagination and be at least somewhat original.
