Is there a template conditional statement that I can do so that I will know that I'm on the PAGE 1 of the published stories?

I need the same thing. I would like to have a conditional, whether in template or in PHP code but included in .tpl file, that can determine whether it is in Page 1, Page 3 and Page 5.

Any advice?
