WARNING:
This is a work in progress and I'm posting it for help, not for use. I am about to head to bed and I thought that it would be nice if someone continued to work on it tomorrow morning when I'm busy sleeping in. I will repeate that this should not be used on a live site.
PROBLEMS:
- Sidebar is displaying really below the article area.
- Everything in the profile area is centered.
- Need to put the search area somewhere up top. The search is currently not in the template.
- We need to update the page buttons to look nicer.
- I won't add the Pligg Logo in the top banner until the final release of Beta 6.
- The footer is coming out white, should show the blue background at the very bottom.
- Vote buttons need to be changed to a better looking button. I was discussing how we might want to try something new by using a more unique shape than a box. Maybe a horizontal bar or something. More on this later.
- I would like the navbar (ex. www.website.com » published news) to have a different background image, maybe a rounded bar.
- Comments appear to the right of the story rather than below. Same goes with the area for creating a comment.
- Not sure if this is specific only to the new template or not, but whenever I am on an admin page of any sort the 3 links up top only point to the page that I'm on.
- If you have any experience with PHP, AJAX, CSS or any other web technologies and have time to donate please leave us a message on the forum
and let us know what you can contribute. We are especially seeking CSS developers to assist in fixing and creating Pligg templates using the
new SMARTY system. We are also seeking users with AJAX knowledge for "Web 2.0" applications. As always, PHP help is always needed!
UPDATES:
- This Double Beta release includes a rough start for our new Pligg template.
- Beta 5 has had several bug fixes, once this template is finished and working 100% we will move on to Beta 6 and start working on more user suggestions.
- I have removed the CSS, javascript and images from the install directory and placed them in the /css, /js and /img folders. I have also updated the /install directory files to point to the new location for the CSS file.
BUGS:
- This is a DOUBLE BETA template release. It is only being released for those interested in helping me out in developing the new theme. Normally we would not release Pligg in such a stage, but we are desperately trying to change the Pligg layout ASAP.
- Deleting categories is still disabled.
WHAT'S NEXT:
- Web 6.0 interface that scans your brain and filters content to your personal preferences.
- If the Web 6.0 thing doesn't work out we might throw in some AJAX for searches.
- Folksonomy (still debating this one).
- So much more!
BACKGROUND:
We discovered this week that the original Meneame code that Pligg is based on used a tab image and some bits of CSS from digg.com. To correct this
problem we have decided to kill 2 birds with one stone by creating a whole new template for Pligg. We based this template on the existing install script theme, originally created by Ivan Fong from stanch.net.
