After forgetting about it and then looking afresh, I found that URL method 2 was in fact working fine for me - it is the friendly URL option that I have a problem with.

Here are the combinations I tried :

Default = works :
http://infotain.grabeuh.com/story.ph...or_densi ties

URL Method 2 = works :
http://infotain.grabeuh.com/story/102

URL Method 2 + Friendly story URL = does not work :
http://visualize_online_map_visitor_densities/

Has anyone already seen that sort of behavior before ?

My .htaccess attached for reference - actually the default one with just the "www" rewrite commented out and the two custom category rewrite lines replacing the default ones.

Go into category manager and read the bottom where it says, if using url method 2 please add the following to your .htaccess.

It generates it for you.

I did that already - see lines 36-37 of my .htaccess

In addition, the problem I describe is confined to the story URL. The category URL are correct, although they all link to the default category (which is another unrelated and not yet understood problem that I'll deal with later).

For some reason the host name is absent from the link generated by URL method 2 + friendly URL. From reading the rules in the .htaccess I don't quite understand how one of them could be the culprit. Maybe the problem is somewhere else.

The noop category problem is now solved (cf. http://forums.pligg.com/general-help...html#post43213).

Now only the story URL problem that is the topic of this thread remains... And I still can't imagine even the beginning of a clue...

Hi, I've the same problem!
Url method 2 + Friendly URL = pligg doesn't work fine.

If the post have URL:
The label "continue >>" points to an address like "http://article_title/" instead of "http://www.mydomain.com/article_title/"

if the post doesn't have URL:
The title and the label "continue >>" have a bad links that points to "http://article_title-1/" instead of "http://www.mydomain.com/article_title-1/"

Ok, I've resolved the problem!

Changing the database language you'll encounter the above describled problem.

To resolve it, you've to restore the database language to EN.

It's magic ;-)

Not quite so in my case. As you may have read, I did revert the database language from 'fr' to 'en' and that solved the category problem. Although it did not solve the story URL, there actually was a change I had not noticed :

- No friendly URL - works fine (same as before) :
http://infotain.grabeuh.com/story/109

- Friendly story URL - link is now fine but it is 404 ("Oops, what you're looking for isn't here!") (and less importantly I don't understand why there is a "1" at the end of the URL) :
http://infotain.grabeuh.com/Security... ity_audits-1/

I did not change my .htaccess in the meantime, so the one attached to the first post is still valid.

So indeed reverting to 'en' as a database language is an improvement, but I'm not quite there yet.
