Pligg + OpenID

Ok so i have seen a lot of people asking for forum integration with pligg. An easy way to do this would be to use OpenID (www.OpenID.net) , This would eliminate the hassle of shared DBs and other coding problems as most forums can be easily modified to work with openid. Please consider OpenID as an alternative to be used with the current user management system. Perhaps a MOD can be made that implements this?

We discussed this a long time ago when 3dKiller used to be active in the developer circle. He shot the idea down and said something along the lines of "I earn my users, so I don't want them going to other Pligg sites". I thought his argument was retarded, and none of the other developers really felt that passionate about it so it was never put on the to do list. I loved the idea ever since I saw it first integrated into Geeklog several months ago. I think its a great idea to let users jump from one site to another using the same username and login. We'll see if anyone else is for this idea.

Allowing open id logins would be great and I think it would be a good way to attract more users since I imagine people who use open id supported websites appreciate and are more likely to join other open id sites. Wonder how hard it would be to add this.

I started working on this Sunday where you would be transferred to openid to login and then returned to pligg. The problem is that I couldn't find any documentation on what next. Sure you're logged in to openid, but how do I verify that? Does anyone know of any documentation or examples that would be of help?
