links_summary template split into 2.

right now the link_summary is consistant throughout the site, even in the details page. I would like it to pull different templates. on the shakeit page, it should use template "links_summary" and in the permalink, it should display "detailed"summary" even if by default the teplates look exactly the same.

this way, when clicking on a permalink, it's not the exact same layout, and infomation can be different on it.

I think this is actually a really good idea. As an example, the Geeklog CMS has a template for main page posts that lays out an article with an intro paragraph, and then you get to read the rest of the post in the individual story url. The individual url also has a slightly different layout for the story which displays links related to the story, a link to a printer friendly page and other links. Check out an example at one of my web pages http://www.yankidank.com . Click on one of the "read more" links below an article.

yessir, thats exactly what i meant. although i did not mean specificly for longer text, but more for changes in the templates, such as more statistics (outbound links) and other fun stuff.

I don't know if I quite understand the question since Yankidank didn't have the answer to it...

but...

couldn't we just put something like:

{if $pagename eq "index"} or whatever in link summary and {if $pagename eq "story"}, you can use a different layout? that's how i do it anyways.

so now you can have a different styled link summary on the index page, while the story page is different.

or whatever, im a n00b.

This is a really old thread. Anything in it is probably outdated.
