Hello,
Just a small suggestion from my end on the template switching. currently from Configuration, you have to enter the template name into the textbox next to the template to use and it picks up and uses it.
Have you looked into the Wordpress or drupal or phpBB template system - all it does is to enumerate the folders present in the themes folder and lists them as a dropdown for admins to select one. It even picks up an screenshot of the template and displays next to it.
References:
File: functions.php
Function: get_themes()
SVN file location: http://trac.wordpress.org/browser/tr.../theme.php#L91
I think such a system for Pligg will make it much easier for the admins to configure and use.
A a note: The success of Wordpress, Drupal, Joomla or any CMS for that matter was attributed to the easiness to configure and use, when admins can get it run easily - he would recommend it to more admins - thus more users, more contributors, better system.
Just my $0.02.

Good idea, I think it would be a nice feature to have, although I think there are other things higher on the priority list.

Did you know about settemplate.php? Example: http://demo.pligg.com/settemplate.php |

Just a little info if you're wondering what settemplate is. It's a file that we keep forgetting to implement into the templates that lets your users use their own template. Even though the admin has yget set in the admin panel, users can select whichever one they want to use. A cookie is saved on their machine so the template settings are saved until they choose a different template or delete the cookie.

Just played around with it - it is for the users to set templates, but are the template names hard-coded instead of being picked from folders (as we have the modules do)? if it picks up automatically it would be great. I was originally referring to the Admin Panel template setting as many get struck with wrong name, frequently. Such a great thing shouldn't be missed - looking forward to have it integrated into core very soon. Thanks for the good work guys. |

| No, the templates in set template are not hard coded. Links are shown only for templates in the /templates directory.

But when i tried with older version (Beta 9) - it just showed only mollio-beat always though I have all templates in place. but the newer version (Beta 9.1) showed all templates - that made me think it was hard-coded. My mistake and Thanks for clarifying. |

| Actually, I was wrong. I am looking at the latest files and didn't know Jit had removed all the links to the other templates and it was only displaying yget (the only template I have) so I thought it wasn't hard coded. It shouldn't be too hard to fix.
