[SOLVED] Direct link to story instead of going throught out.php or /out/

Hi

Direct link to story instead of going throught out.php or /out/

This is important incentive for people to post stories so they can get link back.

Digg Reddit and most others have direct link to story.

Many people will not bother to post story if they can not get link back as reward.

I think there should be option ON/OFF in admin so to give choice to people to make direct or not.

Currently this is the only thing which is stopping me from running pligg commercially. I have it installed by my subscribers (over 267,000) are mostly seo oriented when it comes to posting story so I do not believe they will grow the site without direct link to their blogs posts.

Open <yoursite>/admin_config.php?page=OutGoing

Set "Enable outgoing links." to FALSE

There is a prob with the word 'Outgoing'

When I saw it for the first time, I thought setting it to False would disable linking out.

For new users, considering they are here after being used to Digg and similar sites, setting it by default to True may be a good idea.

Thanks

I set Outgoing links to false which help a little beacuse link from story page is direct now but still links on main page are not direct to site which posted. They are now to story page.

Please let me know how to enable direct links on main page.

I meant I would like to have direct links like on digg.com main page.

its in admin

The option to set that is in admin too. Use the 'Use story title as link' or something similar.

I did the same thing and spent the past hour messing around with urls...wondering how I would get previews to work with no outbound url...

Not complaining...glad I found the answer here. But rewording would help some down the road.

I agree, the wording is a little ambiguous. Perhaps 'outbound links' would be better?

Anyhoo, thanks for the solution on how to change the links to direct, outbound links rather than done through php.

I have set the outgoing option to false, but my links still show /out/link

I checked the db and it shows false in there as well.

Did I miss something else?
