Mobile Friendly Pligg

This is the mobile friendly template which is already included in any Pligg version 9.8 and up. The mobile friendly version allows for visitors to interact with your Pligg site on many mobile devices.

Works for Pligg 9.8

How does it work?
Just place the mobile folder in your templates directory.

You can then create a link on your site to the mobile template using the url mydomain.com/settemplate.php?template=mobile

Or by simply creating a sub-domain like mobile.mydomain.com and make it forward to mydomain.com/settemplate.php?template=mobile

See here for special instructions you'll need to do with your main site template

It should work on most 3rd generation mobile devices.
Like ***** N95, Ipaq, Iphone, Windows Smart Phones, or just about anything that can run Mobile Opera.

Yep, it works fine on Mobile Opera on Blackberry - but the Blackberry browser fails - mainly the css and js part. In mobile opera - it works pro.

To get mobiel Opera for your phone - try this link: Opera Mobileā„¢ - few phones have this bundled but widely supported on most phones.

Many sites have mobile versions like m.site.com. How to set up this template for that kind of domain?

simple, setup a sub-domain, create a htaccess that will redirect any queries to site.com/mobile or what ever the template requires.

Most hosts will have a wizzard in their cpanel which makes it really simple..

For example you could create m.site.com and simply have it forward to site.com/settemplate.php?template=mobile

or like Dollars5 was talking about above by using .htacess

Code:
RewriteEngine on
RewriteRule settemplate.php?template=mobile(.*) /mobile$1 [PT]
Would push to it from site.com/mobile

Hope that helps.

It kind of works on an iPhone. It does not resize it to the full size of the screen so you have to zoom in to see it properly. The trouble with this is it does not just scroll up and down. It also then scrolls left and right into the white space around the sides. Not sure how/if this could be fixed to display properly.

I know there is an iPhone template coming. This is good for *other* mobile users and when the iphone version comes you would have a separate one for that.

i.e mobile.pligg.com - iphone.pligg.com - pligg.com

I have one question about this - when you go to site.com/settemplate.php?template=mobile it stays on the change template page. Does anyone know how to get it to do an auto refresh so that it takes you to the mobile site. Otherwise when someone goes there it does not tell them to refresh to get the site to show.

does that make sense?
