I added a bit about keeping the rate of building incoming links steady.

I've got a lot more to add, which I will do in time.

I inserted a hughe update to search engines... and searched a lot to the direct urls that are mostly hidden.
I think this would be enough for 99% of the users, probably more than enough...
Will continue to update it soon.

Added piece at the bottom about Google and Yahoo webmasters tools.

I'll also add an item about Google analytics tool as well.

ohh... getting into the spirit of things now. Added a footnote:

Footnote

A SEO campaign can take between one and two years for it to come to full fruition. There are SEO companies that offer promises of guaranteed top ten search engine placements. Avoid them like the plague. No company is in a position to fulfill such promises, and if they are, it may be that they make changes to your website or they instigate a link building programme that Google would consider cheating - unethical in SEO speak. If this is the case then your website may be banned by Google completely, or suffer infractions to its SERPs.

This guide is only ever intended as a brief introduction to the subject. It is worth reading the threads on the main internet marketing forum Digital Point for further ideas and suggestions to help you with your SEO. You will find that users on Digital Point are friendly and willing to offer advise.

A popular purchase is Aaron Wall's SEO Book. This is a good introduction to basic SEO, but to be honest, at $79, you can find all the same information on Digital Point or similar forums for free.

Remember, there are no secrets to SEO – all the information you need is out there
