open up sidebar.tpl in your template. This stuff does the magic:

{if $cat_array neq ""}
{assign var=sidebar_module value="categories"}{include file=$the_template_sidebar_modules."/wrapper2.tpl"}
{/if}

Paste it somewhere in your header.
Make it look good with your CSS file.
Done.

Can you tell us please some guidelines about how to also in css?

I like to remove that sidebar box in what links are but don't know how.
