How to add 'votes' to xvotes? Like 'diggs' at digg.com

I'd like to add the word votes under the numeral number of votes in the xvotes box. I would like to have a similar look to what digg.com has. If you haven't seen the way digg.com does it, it's a number then the word 'diggs' under it and then under than is a link 'digg it'. I'm wanting to add 'votes' where the word 'diggs' appears in the digg.com example

I found the code in link_summary.tpl, but my attempts to change it has not given me the results I've wanted. Adding the word 'votes' within the list element produces the word 'votes' in a very large font on the same line as the number. Taking it out of the list element puts the text in the area that the normal 'vote' link should belong.

Any help in fixing this is greatly appreciated.

One way would be to edit the image to have "Votes" as part of the xvotes image. However, it wouldn't be dynamic and show a singular "vote" with the numeral one (1 vote versus 2 votes).

Just one idea.

Great idea! Rather than banging my head I can just make it say Votes. If I get around to it, I can put a check to see if the vote total equals one and then display a different image.

Well it did work, but now I'm trying to move the vote number up a few pixels. I've messed with the padding and the line height but I just can't move the vote number without affecting the Vote text/link . Can someone PLEASE lend a hand? I know what I'd like to do, I just can't get it to behave the way I would like.

So I'm a lot closer now. I edited the main.css file and adjusted the line-height to 34px and things look pretty good. The problem comes when someone votes. The javascript is called and then the word 'voted' appears in the wrong place and I can't figure out where I need to make the modifications to get it top display correctly. If I reload the page everything looks good. It's best to try it and see for yourself if my explanation doesn't make sense:

Again, I understand that most people who read these forums are probably up to their ears in their own problems, but if you could take a moment out of your day to help me out it would be greatly appreciated.
